Snaps of Udaipur

Following the UNICEF internship closing workshop, a friend and I traveled to lovely Udaipur in the northwestern state of Rajasthan. Below are a few pictures from our week in this lakeside town formerly known as Mewar, famous for its 16th century Lake Palace and also the setting of the 13th James Bond movie (filmed here in 1983).

Dhaarna and I were surprised one morning to walk outside our guest house and meet an elephant. His name is "Laxmi", which in Hindi means money (or, good fortune).
My first elephant ride!
We also took a cooking class at a local vegetarian restaurant and cooperative, "Millets of Mewar". Shown here are our proud creations: malai kofta, dal fry, eggplant curry, corn cheese garlic chapatti, and spinach potato soup.
